4/5/2023 0 Comments Hordecore horders![]() ![]() Whether your hoarding disorder is mild or severe, just thinking about parting with your possessions can be emotionally distressing. You may feel ashamed or frustrated at your continued need to acquire items, embarrassed at how you live, or isolated from the family and friends you no longer feel able to invite into your home. In extreme cases, items are piled floor-to-ceiling and cover virtually every surface, making it difficult to move through rooms, prepare food, go to bed, or use the bathroom.Īs well as creating dangerous living conditions, this excessive need to accumulate possessions can have a detrimental impact on your health, relationships, and ability to function in daily life. But if you have hoarding disorder, your home may be so cluttered with items that some living spaces are unusable. Many of us are prone to clutter or have trouble parting with old possessions, especially nostalgic mementos, knickknacks, or things we’re convinced will one day be useful. It results in excessive accumulation of belongings, often making for a cramped, unmanageable, or unhealthy living space. Alas, we still felt constricted by the one thing we also loved the most - the 2D sidescrolling gameplay aesthetic! So we decided on the biggest - and best - change yet: opening up the third dimension for the player to explore, which gave the game a breath of fresh air.Hoarding disorder is a chronic difficulty with discarding possessions-even those without any monetary value-accompanied by a dysfunctional attachment to often worthless or unusable items. We enjoyed it, but we soon realized that the core gameplay loop would leave us out of space and stop us from expanding this world the way we had envisioned.ĭropping the tower defense elements was our first step towards a much freer, action-driven experience that would allow players to sink their teeth deeper into our world-building. That, along with our fascination for the Fallout universe, especially the character design of Fallout Shelter, led us towards prototypes that we fell in love with!Īt first, the game was a pure 2D side-scroller with no verticality and heavily directed towards tower-defense style gameplay - more management, less action. We looked at “Zombieland” and “The Walking Dead” approaches to inspire the overall mood and aesthetic of our game. We wanted to escape the boring loop of web development and educative content that we commissioned at the time. In the beginning, we were working on what was pretty much a creative outlet that highly contrasted the work we had been doing professionally. The idea for the game predates our studio by a long shot. HordeCore started out under a different name altogether - A Horde Too Many - and the project grew both in potential and outright quality over the years. Did we mention that you can play in the 4-player coop mode yet? After all, slaying the horde is most fun with your friends!īut how HordeCore became the game that it is today? Let us tell you a short story about our beginnings. We are focusing pretty hard on our story mode to deliver you a fun, action-packed experience filled with spicy humor. Of course, that’s not everything Hordecore has to offer. Got bored of lighting traps or saw a lot of enemies with high resistance? No worries, just change the mod to a fire one, and boom - you now have a spinning fire trap! They allow you to change the way your skills work. But having just one unchanging perk would be kinda boring, right? That’s where ability modifiers come in. ![]() Each character has their own unique ability, be it a machine gun turret or a blazingly hot Molotov. Maxing one out one tree, combining it with another, or making a mix of all three - what path will you pick?Īnd then there are ability modifiers. ![]() You can invest points in three categories: Courage, Leadership, and Survival to tailor the characters for your preferred playstyle. Let us explain.įirst of all, our skill tree. How does it work? It is quite simple, but not that simple at the same time. Not quite! With HordeCore, we are aiming to bring deep and complex gameplay in a relaxed envelope. But Why Is It Fun? It Is Just Another Zombie Game! ![]()
